Position descriptions should be reviewed before filling a vacancy, whether the role is new or existing, to ensure a realistic job preview for potential applicants. It is also recommended that position descriptions be reviewed every 2 years to ensure the description matches the actual duties of the employee occupying the role. This will help align performance management targets and allow for better goal setting for the employee, supervisor, and team.
