Overview
The Microsoft Education LTI integrates Microsoft 365 tools directly into Canvas. Once added to your course navigation, it provides quick access to four apps:
- Teams Meetings
- Class Notebooks
- OneDrive
This article walks you through adding the LTI to your course and understanding the purpose of each tool.
Add the Microsoft Education LTI to Your Course Navigation
- Open your Canvas course.
- Select Settings from the left-hand course menu.

- Go to the Navigation tab.

- Drag Microsoft Education into your active navigation area.

- Click Save at the bottom of the page.

Once added, the Microsoft Education link will appear in your course navigation
Sign In with Your Mines Credentials
- Click Microsoft Education in your Canvas navigation.

- When prompted, sign in using your Mines credentials.

- Once signed in, you will see three main buttons:

- Teams Meeting
- Class Notebook
- OneDrive
What Each App Does
Teams Meeting

Class Notebook

- Launch your course’s OneNote Class Notebook.
- Instructors can distribute pages, create collaboration spaces, and give feedback.
- Students can access their personal notebook, class materials, and assignments.
OneDrive
Access your Mines OneDrive directly inside Canvas.

You can:
- Browse your OneDrive files
- Upload new files

- Select documents to share with students

Navigation Tips
- The LTI functions as a hub for Microsoft tools inside Canvas.
- Only meetings scheduled through the Microsoft Education LTI in Canvas will appear in this space.
- You may still use the full versions of Teams, OneDrive, and Class Notebook outside Canvas. This LTI simply provides faster access.
