Step-by-step: How to setup your personal Windows computer to print to OrePrint, OrePrintColor, OreCopy or OreCopyColor

Due to new security restrictions implemented in the wake of the PrintNightmare issue of mid-2021, it is not possible to map your personally owned computer to the OrePrint, OrePrintColor, OreCopy, orOreCopyColor print queues on campus.  However, a work-around is implemented by using the PaperCut Mobility Print utility.

This document outlines how to download and install Mobility Print.

1.  Use your preferred web browser to go to:  www.papercut.com/help/manuals/mobility-print/setting-up-a-device-mdns-dns/client-setup-windows/

2.  Under the Set up section look for the the line "Click this link to download and run the Mobility Print installer."

3.  Click on the link to initiate the download.

4.  After the download completes, right-click your mouse on the pc-mobility-print-printer-setup-1.0.250.exe file and select Scan with Windows Defender.

5.  After the anti-virus scan has completed double-click your mouse on the installer file to launch the install process.

Select your preferred language and click the OK button

6.  Accept the End User License Agreement then click the Next button.

7.  The application will attempt to discover all of the PaperCut served printers on the campus network.

This tutorial refers to OrePrint, OrePrintColor, OreCopy and OreCopyColor only, but you may choose any of the listed devices.

Once you've made your selection, click the Next button.

8.  Enter your user credentials (either "username" or "username@mines.edu" will work) and click the Next button.

9.  The printer drivers will install and you are notified when the process is completed.

Click the Finish button.

10.  To see that your printers have been mapped, open up Printer & Scanners and you should see your new print mappings listed.

11.  You can also print to these print queues if you are off-campus if you connect to the campus network with the GlobalProtect VPN client first.

Instructions for installing GlobalProtect on Windows can be found here: helpcenter.mines.edu/TDClient/1946/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=133530

12.  You can now retrieve your print job from any OrePrint station if you printed to OrePrint or OrePrintColor, or any OreCopy Xerox multi-function device (MFD) on campus by swiping your BlasterCard on the MFD's RFID pad.
