What is GlobalProtect?
GlobalProtect is Mines’ Remote Access Solution (Virtual Private Network or VPN). This essential tool enables members of the Mines community, even those who are not physically on campus, to securely access campus-based systems that are inaccessible to the broader internet.
Network traffic leaving the remote computer is encrypted and sent to the GlobalProtect system located on campus. It is then decrypted and forwarded on to the destination. The computer at the destination sees the traffic as coming from a computer at Mines rather than the remote computer's home system.
Returning traffic is sent to campus where it is encrypted and sent to the remote computer.
