This procedure was tested with Ubuntu 22.04 as of 10/12/2023
A pre-requisite is to install the following packages first:
sudo apt install smbclient
sudo apt install python3-smbc
Then:
- Open Settings.
- Click on Printers.
- Click the Additional Printer Settings button.
- Click the Add button.
- In the 'Find Network Printer' section, click on Windows Printer via SAMBA item.
- Fill in with the following:
- SMB Printer: smb://cyclone.mines.edu/OreCopy (or OreCopyColor).
- Authentication > Set authentication details now > Username: adit\username > User your Mines password.
- Click the Forward button.
- Reference example below:
- Select Generic for the driver and click Forward.
- Select Postscript and the default Foomatic driver and click Forward.
- Change the Short name to what ever you like. Eg: OreCopy.
- Change the Description to what ever you like. Eg: OreCopy.
- Click Apply.
- Click Cancel at the test page screen.
You are now ready to print now!
