Service Description
IT will provide Mines employees with one of our PC or Mac standard devices. Standard options can be viewed here: https://it.mines.edu/equipment-purchases/. If these devices do not meet your needs, please submit the request outlining your device requirements. Please note: Non-standard devices may need to be purchased by your department.
Standard computers come preloaded with:
- Windows 11/MacOS 13
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Chrome and Firefox Browsers
- Zoom
- Adobe Reader, Java and selected other common utilities
- Global Protect VPN
- Microsoft Defender Antivirus
- Laptops will be encrypted
Additional software may be found in Software Center on your machine or installed by request, license permitting.

Requirements
In order to qualify for a standard computer at least one of the below must be true:
- Current computer must be at least 5 years old
- Current computer is in subpar working condition
- A new employee has been hired
Service Charges
Standard computers are provided by IT to those who qualify.
