Zoom Webinar Request

Service Description

We are now able to offer Zoom Webinar to support multiple webinars for groups up to 500 attendees. Upon request, a license can be loaned to you for up to 3 weeks to schedule, manage and host your event. During webinars, only the host and panelists can use their microphones and cameras or share their screens. The remaining attendees will join as ‘listen only’ participants. Polling and Q&A features are available as well as registration and post-webinar reporting.

If you would like to make use of a Mines Zoom webinar license, faculty and staff can use the ‘Submit Request’ button located on this page.

Important Note:  Due to the limited number of webinar licenses available, Mines’ Zoom administrators must consider requests on a case-by-case basis. Please submit your request at least 2 business days in advance.

You might also consider using MS Teams Live Event to facilitate your webinar. As the ‘producer’ of an MS Teams Live Event, you can host large groups of up-to-10,000 attendees and have access to similar capabilities as you would a Zoom webinar host. You can view information on how to Product a Live Event Using Teams on the Microsoft Support page.

Below are some ways that Webinars differ from Zoom meetings:

  • Host can assign video panelists
  • Host must specifically turn on audio/video for attendees
  • Email Reminders are sent, if Registration is enabled
  • Attendees cannot share their screens
  • There are no breakout rooms
  • Offers a Question & Answer (Q&A) tool

For a complete look at differences, you can view Zoom Help Center's Meeting and Webinar Comparison.

Webinar attendees receive video and audio content by default but cannot share their video or audio unless the host promotes them to "Panelist"; for more, see the Zoom Help Center's Promote Attendee.
