Configure New Computer - Not Purchased by IT

Requirements

IT strongly suggests all faculty and staff take advantage of our new Campus Wide Laptop Program, where IT will provide you a very powerful brand new standard Windows or Mac laptop, free of charge.  The turn around for a new device is approximately 2-5 days, depending on the time of year.  If you are interested in a brand new laptop free of charge, submit a request by clicking on the link below.

Standard New Computer Request

If you have already received authorization and purchased a new computer using Dept, grant, or other Mines-related funds, use this form to request a set up for that new device.

Service Description

Upon request, IT will set up your new Windows computer with:

  • Microsoft Windows 11 EDU
  • Microsoft Office Professional
  • Firefox and Chrome browsers
  • Adobe Reader, Java and selected other common utilities
  • Laptops will be encrypted using the built-in Microsoft BitLocker

Other software may be installed by request, license permitting.

IT can also set up a Mac device as well, with functionally equivalent software.
