Service Description
DUO FOBs allow for use of multi-factor authentication (MFA), sometimes called two-factor authentication, which requires the use of a physical device in addition to a password when logging into an account. Without both factors – the device and the password – you cannot log in. This makes a stolen password alone effectively worthless.
Audience
Any active Mines' student, faculty, or staff member.
Requirements
A mobile device or designated FOB device is required for this service.
Service Charges
This service is provided free of charge. However, standard data rates from your carrier may apply if using your mobile device off campus (not on Wifi).
Requesting the Service
If you want to enroll in Duo using your phone or tablet as the primary device, please checkout our self-service enrollment portal at https://mfa.mines.edu/. (You need to be on campus or connected through VPN – reference the Knowledge Base article here.) Self-service is not available for student employee accounts. In this case you must proceed with the service request on this page.
Support can also be requested by visiting the Mines Service Center (MSC) or calling x2345 or 303-384-2345 during MSC staffed times. In this case, a Student Consultant will take your information.
