Service Description

Canvas is the campus-wide learning management system (LMS) of Mines. Canvas is used by instructors and students to electronically share instructional materials, submit assignments, interact and communicate online, and more. Canvas may be used to supplement face-to-face or hybrid courses, and facilitate fully online courses.  Registrar approved courses and instructor/student enrollments are automatically added to Canvas and Mines students, instructors and staff can log in to Canvas using their Mines Login credentials. Canvas can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Canvas is a cloud-hosted solution and may periodically experience brief service or feature interruption. Up-to-date status information along with past incident information is available at http://status.instructure.com

Requirements

Canvas access requires a stable internet connection and basic computer requirements

For technical support, 24/7 live chat or telephone support is available for students, instructors, and staff by clicking the “Help & Resources” icon in the lower left corner when signed into Canvas.

Trefny Center

The Trefny Innovative Instruction Center can assist instructors in implementing best practices for teaching and learning that are not Canvas specific. This includes support with course design, such as developing learning outcomes and creating authentic and well-aligned assessments, as well as support in developing classroom activities, creating inclusive classroom environments, and gathering feedback from students.
