Mines has a campus-wide subscription for Hypothesis, a social annotation tool. Hypothesis is available in all Canvas courses.
Hypothesis enables instructors and students to discuss and engage with course readings. Students and teachers can add comments and start conversations within the margins of texts.
Getting started with Hypothesis
Hypothesis can be implemented in a Canvas course in two ways:
When setting up Hypothesis as either a Canvas assignment or module item, Hypothesis supports smaller reading groups through the use of Canvas groups.
Utilizing Hypothesis in Canvas automatically creates a private space for each course section(s). This eliminates the need for students or instructors to create separate accounts and makes annotations only visible to either the course section or to the individual student.

Helping students with Hypothesis
A student introduction guide is available to help familiarize students with the features and functionality of Hypothesis. Students may also want to review annotation tips that cover best practices when annotating.
