MediaSpace: Managing Video Publish Settings

The Video Publish Settings in MediaSpace allow you to control who can view your content. This guide provides step-by-step instructions to help you review and adjust these settings to align with your sharing preferences.

Step-by-Step Guide to Manage MediaSpace Publish Settings

Access MediaSpace

  1. Log in to MediaSpace:
    • Open your web browser and log into my.mines.edu with your Mines credentials.
    • Navigate to the MediaSpace tile within my.mines.edu or use the url, mediaspace.mines.edu.

Navigate to My Media

  1. Go to My Media:
    • Click on My Media from your My MediaSpace menu to access your My Media library.

  2. Select a Video to Edit:
    • Find the video you want to change the publish settings on and click on its title to open it.

Edit Video

  1. Access the Actions Menu:
    • Below the video player, click on the Actions drop-down menu.
  2. Launch Editor:
    • From the Actions menu, select Edit.

Review Publish Settings

  1. Access Publish Settings:
  • On the Edit page, click the "Publish" tab.
  • You will see three visibility options:
    • Private: Only you can view this video.
    • Unlisted: Only those with the direct link can view this video.
    • Public: The video is visible to anyone visiting MediaSpace.

Update Publish Settings

  1. Select the option that best fits your needs:
  • Private for personal or sensitive content.
  • Unlisted for sharing via direct link.
  • Public for content intended for broad audiences.
  1. Click "Save" to apply your changes.

Confirm Changes

  1. Return to "My Media" to ensure the updated visibility setting is displayed under the video title.

  • Review frequently: Check your publish settings regularly to maintain proper access.
  • Use Unlisted wisely: This option is ideal for selective sharing without broad exposure.
  • Consider Public carefully: Ensure content is suitable for public viewing before setting it as Public.
