Career Day 2022 Help: How to Use the Virtual Platform

Connecting to Virtual Event Using the New Career Fair Plus Platform:

In collaboration with the Mines Career Center, ITS has put together this resource guide to assist with your 2022 Mines Virtual Career Day.

-To start, here is the Mines-specific guide for using the "Career Fair Plus" platform, which will host the virtual event: https://www.mines.edu/careers/cfpresources/

In addition, this video provides highlights of Career Fair Plus:

Step by Step Guide:

The Following Options Assume that you are connected to the Internet using a Desktop or Laptop computer with a web browser. This is the recommended set up for best experiencing the virtual event.

If you have not registered yet:

Navigate to Career Fair Plus and choose "Recruiter/Candidate Login" (Top Right)

Choose the "Sign Up" tab and then "Student or Candidate" and Sign Up Button

NOTE: This login is not tied to the Mines MultiPass

(Proceed to Next Section, Once you have an Account)

If you have already registered:

Navigate to Career Fair Plus and choose "Recruiter/Candidate Login" (Top Right)

Choose the "Login" Tab to Sign with the Username/Password you created

-Note: You have the ability to recover a lost password by using the Career Fair Plus "Forgot Password" option (ITS does not have the ability to assist with this)

You will be taken to the Mines-Specific Event, Upon Successful login

-To Schedule Meetings, Choose the "My Fairs" option in the Top Left Corner

Mobile Options are also available via free mobile Apps found in both the Google Play or Apple iOS Store, but may not provide the optimal experience.

iOS App Available in Apple App Store Android App Available in The Google Play Store

Technical Tips:

Tip: Check Your Sound in Advance!

1. You can choose to test your sound before the event.

2. In your browser, ensure the correct mic is selected in the settings. For example, in Google Chrome you can type this in the address bar: chrome://settings/content/microphone

3. Testing with the mic/speakers in another common app such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, etc will allow you to see the audio levels without requiring anyone else to join.

Tip: Allow for Camera/Mic Access (via Browser or App) - See Full Video Guide Here

Allow Camera or Mic Access

(This may appear slightly different based on your browser and Operating System)

Accidentally Block Permission or Wrong Camera showing?

When Whereby first asks permission to access your camera and microphone, you may have chosen "Block" or "Cancel" instead of "Allow" by mistake

This can be adjusted in the settings in the same way you would change which camera is being accessed. After you've accepted the use of Microphone/Camera within the Web Browser you're using, you can change the camera the application uses (if your device has multiple) using your browser settings. For example, in Google Chrome, you can type this in your address bar: chrome://settings/content/camera. (FireFox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge will have similar settings)

FAQ / Answers for the Virtual Event

Note: This section will be pre-populated with answers to some anticipated questions and will be updated regularly during the event if we find common issues worth sharing.

How do I find the link to the Career Fair? Mines Students can visit Diggernet for information regarding the event. For a direct link to Career Fair Plus, here is the URL to use (follow the getting started steps above to log in): https://app.careerfairplus.com/login

How can I find specific help information for Career Fair Plus? The Mines Career Center is happy to help students with Career Fair Plus! In addition, information on platform-related questions or issues can be online in Career Fair Plus' Knowledge base, which may be useful to bookmark. How do I upload/change my resume?

Typically a Mines Career day involves printing several copies (and often several versions of your resume) using OrePrint to bring with you and share with employers. This year you'll still want to have your resume prepared but instead of printing, you'll want to have it in PDF form. During the virtual event, the Mines Career Center will have a booth within the Virtual Platform and can help with tips and best practices with resumes. In addition, if you haven't yet browsed Career Fair Plus' support pages, the platform's knowledge base may get you self-service help on how you can upload or change your resume before, during, and after Career Days.
