Service Description
Office moves require advanced planning to accommodate office technology in the new space. ITS can help in planning for the layout of telephones, computers, printers, and active network ports. Users break down their computers themselves in preparation for movers prior to the move of furniture and fixtures. ITS is typically not involved in move preparation. Movers will move the computers along with the furniture and boxes. Upon arrival at the new location, ITS will assist with the reconfiguration and validation of the equipment in the new space.
Audience
The service is offered to academic and administrative offices moving from one campus location to another.
Service Levels
With the exception of telephone equipment, computer equipment should be coordinated to be moved with the furniture by Facilities Management, or by end users directly when appropriate. Support for technology setup can be requested after the relocation of equipment can be requested through this service upon submission or while the request is in progress.
To assure the availability of staff, at least five days advance notice must be given to ITS. At that time, network port activation requests must also be made. Failure to request port activations in advance may result in delayed network connectivity after the move.
