Changed Status from New to In Process. Karie Farr Migration Next Steps Your new site location has been activated for you on our WordPress installation for faculty. Your new URL is here: https://people.mines.edu/tfurtak/. We have added your image and some introductory content from your current site on Inside Mines. You will be responsible for migrating the rest of your content to the new location. Mines uses WordPress as our CMS and Divi Builder as our drag-and-drop framework. If you are not familiar with these, we are offering several training and Q&A sessions to assist you. Here are the dates: April 10, 4:00 – 5:00 pm April 15, 3:00 – 4:00 pm April 24, noon – 1:00 pm To join a training, please email kfarr@mines.edu with your desired date. Trainings are held via Teams. Here is your site login url: https://people.mines.edu/tfurtak/wp-admin, and use your single sign-on. If your current site contains course content, please note that while there is no policy on where course content should go, we do encourage you to use Canvas, SharePoint, or other non-public resources provided by Mines for this purpose. Please ensure all of your content is moved by June 7, 2024. Your site on Inside Mines will be removed after that date. If you don’t currently have a backup of your site, Connie Schamaun will share a link to a location where you can download all PDFs, images, and HTML files of your website. When your content migration is complete, your old website URL will be redirected to your faculty page. We will add another note to this ticket when we have finished migrating your content to allow you the opportunity to review and check for accuracy before IT creates the redirect. If there is any other information we need to know, please feel free to share on this ticket. I have looked at the type of help materials available in the WordPress editing environment. I think I will be able to update the site to represent a simple collection of materials about my interests. Unfortunately, I have already done a bad thing. I haven't gone through all of the instructions yet but was fiddling a bit with the content in one of the blocks, just to test that out. I saved my text modifications. But then (without knowing what it would do) I clicked on the Update button. This replaced all of the content on the home page (Ugh!). I am so sorry. Could you please replace things the way they were yesterday? I know that you have tons of stuff to do, and don't need to be correcting blunders like. I promise not to screw it up again. -Tom Fri 3/29/2024 12:14 PM Karie Farr Hi Tom, Thanks for jumping in there so quickly! I have restored an earlier revision for you. You probably hit the return to default editor which strips out divi and therefore all of the content inside divi. Here is a Divi Builder introduction video that will be helpful. My current web site is:https://inside.mines.edu/~tfurtak/In addition to the materials directly linked through that home page I also have a number of sub folders that I provide to students when I'm sharing instructions or information.https://inside.mines.edu/~tfurtak/senior_design/https://inside.mines.edu/~tfurtak/contact/https://inside.mines.edu/~tfurtak/eclipse/https://inside.mines.edu/~tfurtak/monolayer/https://inside.mines.edu/~tfurtak/organic_inorganic/I would like to preserve these materials as web-reachable resources.I have experience editing conventional html sites, including the original web site associated with the Physics Learning Studio at Mines many years ago. I have not worked with WordPress or Divi Builder. I anticipate continuing to maintain a very simple site.
