Sharing files from OneDrive to inside and outside Colorado School of Mines

At times, you may want to collaborate and/or share files/folders from our OneDrive. The instructions below will guide you through this process.

  1. Open your OneDrive and find the file/folder you'd like to share. Right-click and select share.

  1. Click the gear icon on the Copy link button.

  1. Here you can see we have many options. For, “The Link works for” there are 4 options:
    1. Anyone. This is not an option that should be used very often--that would mean anyone with a link can access it. 
    2. People in Colorado School of Mines. This would be an option to share broadly with everyone at Mines.
    3. Only people with existing access.
    4. People you choose. Would be suitable for keeping only those who need access, gets the access. This can include people outside of Mines.

  1. Under More Settings, there is a section for what the people with the link can do (edit, review, view, can't download). The below screenshot shows those options. There is also an option to set an expiration date for the link to expire.

    After you make your choices from step 3 and 4, select Apply.

  1. In the next popup, add in the users you want to provide access to. You can either send an email or copy the link to place into a chat or email.

  1. At any time, you can modify access for your document. Click the lock key icon.

  1. Within the access manager, you can navigate through the options to remove access, grant new access, or even delete access you previously set up
