This guide will help you move your home drive files and folders to OneDrive. Please note, you'll need to be on a Mines network (or on VPN if you're off campus) to follow these steps.
Overview
- Add/map the home drive to your laptop (if that hasn't been done already).
- Downloading the Microsoft OneDrive for the App Store.
- Setting up your Mines OneDrive account.
- Copying the files and folders from your home drive to the OneDrive folder.
Adding/Mapping Home Drive to Your Mac Computer
If your home drive is not mapped, please follow step 1-5. If you do see a Z: Network Drive, please proceed to step 6.
- Select Go on your Mac.
- Enter the path to your Home Drive as shown below. Click Connect.
- Enter your credentials (username and password), when you are prompted.
- You will see your data in the Home Drive. Your home drive is now connected to Mac laptop.
- You might also see the drive on your desktop, once it is connected.

Downloading Microsoft OneDrive
- Go to the App Store.
- Search for OneDrive and download.
Setting up your Microsoft OneDrive account
- Open Microsoft OneDrive. Click the settings icon (looks like a gear) and click Preferences.

Click on the Account tab.
- Enter your account information (email address) and sign in.

- Select use this folder.
- Click Next until you see a screen where you can select Later.
- Your OneDrive is now set up.
Copying Files and Folders From Your Home Drive to Your Mac OneDrive
- Highlight the files you're moving from your home drive and select copy.
- Open up your OneDrive folder.
- Select the folder location in OneDrive you would like to copy your files to. In the example below, we've selected Test folder.
- Right click in the folder you're moving your files to.
- Select paste.
Once your files and folders are moved, OneDrive will automatically back them up to the cloud. You can access these files from any device with OneDrive set up or directly through the web.
