Home Drive to OneDrive Migration for Mac's

This article details how you connect to your current Home Drive, how to sign into OneDrive, and how to move files between Home Drive and OneDrive

Overview: 

Colorado School of Mines are currently using home drives that are utilizing storage from a Cohesity appliance. This initiative will move the data from user’s home drive to the Microsoft OneDrive storage.

Standard Operating Procedure

  1. We will first add the home drive to the laptop if we do not have it mapped to your laptop
  2. Downloading the Microsoft OneDrive for the App Store
  3. Adding your Mines OneDrive account
  4. Copying the files from your home drive to the OneDrive folder

Mapping/Adding Home Drive

We will first connect to a server on the Mac laptop

Select "go" on your Mac

  1. Enter the path to your "Home Drive" as shown above
  2. Click on "Connect"
  3. Enter your credentials, when you are prompted
  4. You will see your data in the Home Drive

Downloading Microsoft OneDrive

  1. Go to the App Store
  2. Search for "OneDrive" and download

Click on Preference

Click on the Account tab.

  1. Enter your account information (email address) and sign in
  2. Select use this folder

Select Next again on other screens until the screen below and you can select "Later"

Copying data from Home Drive to your Mac OneDrive

Highlight the files from your home drive and select "copy"

Select the location to copy it to. As an example, I am selecting "Test Folder"

  1. Right Click in the "Test Folder"
  2. Select paste
