Kaltura MediaSpace Go (KMS Go) Mobile App for Android

Overview

The Kaltura MediaSpace Go app allows you to record, upload, and manage video content from your Android device. It connects directly to Mines MediaSpace so you can add videos to your account, publish to courses, and share content with others.

This guide explains how to install the app, sign in with your Mines credentials, record or upload videos, and manage your MediaSpace content from your phone.

Install the App

  1. Open the Google Play Store on your Android device.
  2. Search for Kaltura MediaSpace Go.
  3. Select the app and tap Install.
  4. Open the app once installation is complete.

Sign In to MediaSpace

  1. Launch KMS Go.
  2. In the "Site URL" field, enter: https://mediaspace.mines.edu
  3. Tap Next.
  4. You will be redirected to the Mines login page.
  5. Sign in with your Mines username and password.
  6. Approve the Okta authentication prompt.

You will now see your MediaSpace homepage.

Browse or Search for Videos

  1. Use the Explore button at the bottom of the screen to browse your MediaSpace channels or galleries.
  2. Tap Search at the top to find content by title or keyword.
  3. Tap any video to view details, playback controls, and publishing options.

Upload a Video From Your Device

  1. From the home screen, tap the Upload button located at the bottom.
  2. Choose Video, Audio, or Image.
  3. Select a media file from your phone's gallery.
  4. Trim the video or audio clip to your desired length and click Next.
  5. Enter a title and press Upload.
  6. Accept the terms & conditions.
  7. Click Yes to publish the video.
  8. Choose your Publishing Status:
    • Private
    • Unlisted
    • Public (select a channel if required)
  9. Tap Update.

The upload may take several minutes depending on file size and Wi-Fi strength. The video will appear in your My Media once processing is complete.

Record a New Video

  1. Tap the Upload button on the home screen.
  2. Select Video and choose Camera.
  3. Allow the app to access your camera and microphone.
  4. Record your video.
  5. Tap Stop, then Use Video to continue.
  6. Enter the video details and choose your publishing options.
  7. Tap Upload to send the video to MediaSpace.

Edit Video Details

  1. Click on the profile icon in the upper right corner.
  2. Go to My Media.
  3. Tap the video you want to edit.
  4. Tap the ... icon, followed by Edit Entry.
  5. You can modify the title, description, tags, categories, and publishing status.
  6. Tap Update.

Note: Advanced editing features like trimming or clipping must be done on the desktop version of MediaSpace.

Publish to Canvas

You cannot publish directly into Canvas from the mobile app, but you can make a video available for use in Canvas.

  1. Upload your video using the steps above.
  2. Set the video’s publishing status to Unlisted or Published to the correct channel.
  3. Open Canvas on your device or computer.
  4. Use the Course Media or Embed tool in Canvas to insert the video where needed.

Troubleshooting

  • I cannot sign in
    • Check that the URL is exactly: https://mediaspace.mines.edu
    • Make sure your device completes the Okta authentication.
  • My upload is stuck
    • Try switching to Wi-Fi, close other apps, or reduce the file size.
  • The app cannot access my camera
    • Go to Settings > Apps > KMS Go > Permissions and enable Photos and Videos, Music and Audio.
