Using MediaSpace Capture to create and upload videos involves several steps, from downloading the software to recording and uploading your content. Here’s a comprehensive step-by-step guide to using MediaSpace Capture:

Download and Install MediaSpace Capture

1. Log in to MediaSpace MediaSpace:
   • Open your web browser and log into my.mines.edu with your Mines credentials.
   • Navigate to the MediaSpace tile within my.mines.edu or use the url, mediaspace.mines.edu.
     
2. Download MediaSpace Capture:
   • In MediaSpace, click on + Create and then select Capture.
     
   • Click the download link for your operating system (Windows or Mac) and follow the prompts to download and install MediaSpace Capture.

3. Open MediaSpace Capture:
   • Once installed, go back into MediaSpace within your web browser.
   • Click + Create followed by Capture. This will open the Kaltura Capture on your desktop.
     

Configure Your Recording

4. Set Up Your Recording Preferences:
   • The MediaSpace Capture interface will display options for recording your screen, camera, and audio.
     
   • Screen Recording: Select which screen or area you want to record.
   • Webcam: Choose your webcam if you wish to include a video of yourself.

   • Click the red Record button to start recording. A countdown will begin before the recording starts.

7. During Recording:
   • You can annotate the screen using the annotation (Pencil icon) tool provided by MediaSpace Capture. This is useful for highlighting important points during your presentation.
     
8. Stop Recording:
   • When you’re finished, click the stop button. You will be prompted to confirm that you want to stop the recording.

9. Save Your Recording:
   • After stopping the recording, a new window will appear where you can preview your video.
   • Add a title, description, and tags to your video. This metadata helps organize and search for your video later.
     
10. Save and Upload:
    • Click Save & Upload to save the recording to your local computer and upload it to your MediaSpace media library.
    • You will see a progress bar indicating the upload status.

Access and Manage Your Video

11. Access Your Video:
    • Once the upload is complete, you can access your video from your MediaSpace My Media library.
    • To find your video, click on your Profile icon in the upper right corner, followed by My Media.
      
12. Edit and Manage:
    • You can edit the video, change metadata, add captions, and manage sharing settings as needed.
