MediaSpace: Introduction & Overview

What is MediaSpace?

MediaSpace is a feature-rich web-based service for converting, organizing and distributing media content. Campus community members may upload and share their media publicly, within a Canvas course, or with restrictions. MediaSpace can be accessed through Canvas as well as through MediaSpace.

  • Upload and share media contents via MediaSpace or Canvas integration.
  • Embed video content in Canvas anywhere the rich content editor exists or via the My Media or Course Media.
  • Video editing such as trimming, cutting, or clipping longer videos into multiple shorter videos.
  • Analytics on videos, course videos, and channels. 
  • Teams and Zoom integration.
  • Captioning tools.
  • Learning and engagement tools.

Getting Started

Accessing MediaSpace

All current faculty, staff, and students have access to create, upload, edit, and share videos and other media in MediaSpace.

MediaSpace Login Options:

  • Canvas
    • Access your MediaSpace My Media page through the navigation link
    • Embed a video option in the editor section > Add from Library - displays your My Media videos
  • MediaSpace Webpage

My Media

My Media where you find all your uploaded and created content, and is accessible from galleries, channels, and courses. You may publish them in channels and courses and you can collaborate with others by adding them to your media items.
