Using your phone number for password reset notifications

Purpose

To instruct users on how to update their Okta phone number for password reset notifications.

Scope

Users who want to ensure they receive password reset notifications via text.

Procedure

1. Go to My.mines.edu

2. In the top right corner of your dashboard, click the down tab next your name. Click "Settings"

3. Under the "Security Methods" section, choose the “Set Up” button next to the phone option

4. You will be asked to verify your Okta password

5. Click "Verify" when prompted by DUO

6. Click "Setup" when prompted for phone security method

7. Okta verifies this security method by sending a six digit code through text message or, if desired, an automated voice call. Choose the method you prefer, and then enter your phone number in the correct field. Click the "Receive a Code via SMS" button when ready.

8. Okta will then deliver the code through your selected method. Enter the code and click the "Verify" button. Now your setup is complete.
