Step-by-Step: How can I determine if I am running 32 bit or 64 bit Windows 10?

Some software will not install successfully on the 32 bit version of Windows.  Some software will offer a choice of installing either a 32 bit version or a 64 bit version.  It's normally best to install the 64 bit version if possible.

This document describes how to find what version of Windows is installed on your computer.

1. Click on the Windows Icon located in the lower left-hand corner of your screen.

2. Select the Settings icon.

3. Enter "Version" (No quotes) into the search box and then click on the "See if you have a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows" link.

4. You'll be redirected to Windows' "About" page.

5. Scroll down to the "Device Specifications" section and look for the "System Type" entry.

The System Type entry will state either 64-bit or 32-bit
