This process may work on other versions of Linux.

You do not need administrator rights on the computer to complete this process.

1.  Open up Ubuntu’s default web browser (Firefox) and go to the ITS Technology Support Service web page.

This will take you to our User Experience and Support Services page.  At the bottom of the page,

there is a blue button titled “ITS Remote Control”

2.  Click on the “ITS Remote Control” button to initiate the download.

Firefox is redirected to the TeamViewer download page.

This page shows a message “Loading TeamViewer Now. . .”  Please ignore this message and do not click on the “Not loaded yet?  Try again” link.

Firefox will pop open the file download dialog box.  Select “Save File” and click on the “OK” button

Firefox next opens a destination dialog box.  It should be pointing to your Downloads folder.

If it is not, browse to your downloads folder and then click on the “Save” button at the upper right-hand corner of the dialog box.

Firefox indicates the download progress by placing a small, blue, downward facing arrow icon at the upper

right-hand corner of the Firefox window. Below the arrow is a horizontal blue line that shows the download progress.

Click your mouse on the blue arrow and then select the folder icon to open up the downloads folder.

3. Right click your mouse on the TeamViewerQS.tar.gz file and select “Extract Here”

The file will be extracted to a folder named “TeamViewerQS”  Double-click your mouse on it to open it up.

Then, right-click your mouse on the “teamviewerqs” folder and select “Open in Terminal”

4.  In the terminal window, execute the command: LC_ALL=C ./teamviewer.

The TeamViewer Disclaimer dialog box will open.  It contains instructions for you to provide the “Your ID” in the

TeamViewer Quick Support client to your ITS technician.  Press the “Accept” button.

5. Lastly, the TeamViewer Quick Support client will pop-up.

You will provide the “Your ID” number to the ITS technician.  If your computer is a member of the ADIT domain, the technician will use his or her domain administrator credentials in place of the TeamViewer Quick Support password to connect to your computer.  If your computer is a personally owned device, you will instead provide the password to the ITS technician.

6.  The ITS technician will advise you when the connection is initiating.

It will appear to you as if the application has closed, this is the expected behavior.  The ITS technician will advise you when the connection is completed.
