Property Donation

Complete this form when an individual or organization is donating a capital asset to your department in accordance with the Colorado School of Mines Property Manual.

Capital Asset is described as an item with a value of $5,000 or more with an expected useful life of more than one year. If more than three items are being donated, please provide a detailed attachment that includes descriptions, serial numbers, values, and location of property.

The Donor is required to submit a copy of Form 8283 with the donation if they want to take a deduction. Please attach a copy of the Form 8283 and any additional information related to the donation. Please contact co-accounting@mines.edu with any additional questions.

This manual sets forth the policies, responsibilities, and procedures for establishing and maintaining control over property owned by, or in the custody of, the Colorado School of Mines (CSM). The term “property” which is used in this manual is synonymous with the term “capital equipment”, which is defined as personal property having a unit acquisition cost of $5,000.00 or more and an anticipated service life of one (1) year or more. This definition also applies to CSM fabricated equipment.
