MediaSpace: Assigning Channel Permissions to MediaSpace Admins

Purpose

In some cases it will be necessary to assign shared permissions to a video channel. For example, only MediaSpace Administrators can add a featured channel to the MediaSpace homepage carousel, in which case the channel owner must grant co-publisher permissions to the "MediaSpace_Admins" group, or a named IT individual. To allow MediaSpace Admins to manage and update content within the a channel, IT staff must grant the "MediaSpace_Admins" group manager access. This guide outlines the process for assigning the appropriate permissions to a channel and its associated playlists.

Managing Playlists within the Channel

  • Create a new playlist for each Hero Banner rotation.
  • Name playlists clearly, including appropriate metadata to indicate the time period and content theme.

Note: There are four different levels of sharing permissions for channels: Member, Contributor, Moderator, and Manager; described below.

  • Members can view channel content.
  • Contributors can view channel content and add media to the channel.
  • Moderators can view channel content, add media to the channel, and moderate channel content.
  • Managers can view channel content, add media to the channel, moderate channel content, and manage the channel (delegate managerial rights to additional users). Managers can add, remove, and organize content within the channel and its playlists but cannot delete the channel itself or edit/modify media metadata inside the channel.
