Step-by-Step Guide to Using Express Capture in MediaSpace

Using Express Capture in MediaSpace allows you to quickly record videos directly from your web browser without needing any additional software. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to use Express Capture in MediaSpace:

Access MediaSpace

1. Log in to Your MediaSpace Account:
   • Open your web browser and log into my.mines.edu with your Mines credentials.
   • Navigate to the MediaSpace tile within my.mines.edu or use the url, mediaspace.mines.edu.
     

Start Express Capture

2. Navigate to the Create Option:
   • In MediaSpace: Click on the + Create button at the top right corner.
     
3. Select Express Capture:
   • From the dropdown menu, select “Express Capture.” This will open the Express Capture interface.

Set Up Your Recording

4. Configure Your Camera and Microphone:
   • If prompted, grant permission for MediaSpace to access your computer’s camera and microphone.
     
   • Ensure that the correct camera and microphone are selected. You can change these settings using the dropdown menus if necessary.
     

Record Your Video

5. Start Recording:
   • Click the red Record button to begin your recording.
     
   • A countdown will appear before the recording starts, giving you a moment to prepare.
   • When finished, click the Stop button.
     

Review and Save Your Recording

6. Review Your Recording:
   • After stopping the recording, you will have the option to review what you’ve recorded.
   • If you’re satisfied with the recording, click Use This. If you want to re-record, you can select the Record Again option. You can also Download a Copy of your recording at this point.
     
7. Add Metadata:
   • Once you decide to use the recording, you will be prompted to add metadata such as title, description, and tags. Fill in the necessary details to help you and others find the video later.
     
8. Save and Upload:
   • Click the Save button. The video will be saved to your MediaSpace media library and will start uploading.
     
   • You will see a progress bar or notification indicating that the video is being processed and uploaded.
     

Share or Embed Your Video

9. Access Your Video:
   • Once the upload is complete, you can access your video from your MediaSpace My Media library.
   • To find your video, click on your Profile icon in the upper right corner, followed by My Media.
     
10. Edit and Manage:
    • You can edit the video, change metadata, add captions, and manage sharing settings as needed.
