1. How to extend the screen to use both screens?

Answer: To do full screen with two monitors, drag the desktop between the two monitors so half are on each screen.   Then hit full screen

 

2. Where should I save my files on my Cloud VDI desktop?

Answer: At this time you should save your files to the Microsoft OneDrive. Currently the Z:\ is not accessible. 

 

3. Do shortcut Keys work on my Cloud VDI session?

Answer: Some do work but right now shortcut keys that are related to certain applications do not work. We are working on it at this time.

 

4. Does everyone have access to Cloud VDI?

Answer: At this time we are rolling out the access a few additional classes each term. If your instructor did not tell you to use Cloud VDI then you probably do not have access yet.

 

5. Can I move data to and from a USB storage device within my Cloud VDI desktop?

Answer: This is currently being addressed. It is not working today but should be working soon. 

 

6. What should I do if I try to login to my desktop and get an error?

Answer: If you click on the desktop for your class and either get an error or it starts to log you in and then get kicked out, you can click on the three dots in the desktop icon and select "Restart". This will restart your desktop. Wait about 5 minutes and then try to login again. 7. How long should it take for me to login to my Cloud VDI desktop?

Answer: If you are on wireless on your personal device or are connected in a public area that is not on the Mines campus then the login time can be a bit slower but you should see login times less than 5 minutes. 

 

8. What if an application or feature isn't working on my Cloud VDI desktop?

Answer: First thing you should do is let your instructor know, this could be a widespread problem that is already being addressed or it could be specific to your desktop. If the instructor is unaware of any issues with an application or feature then you should submit a ticket and let us know what problem you are having. https://helpcenter.mines.edu/TDClient/1946/Portal/Requests/ServiceDet?ID=53137. There is also a shortcut on the cloud vdi desktop. 

 

9. Will I have access to cloud vdi after the term is over?

Answer: Each term the access is reset. If you had access the previous term but you do not have access now then you are not enrolled in a class that has access.
