Availability for student, faculty and research use: Thanks to our Tech Fee program, MATLAB is now available for online use or download to all students, faculty and researchers.
Licensing Mechanisms: Campus installations are authenticated against a central license server. Personal licenses are valid as long as your school affiliation is valid.
Method for Obtaining:
For MATLAB Online or installation on a personal computer you must first create an account on the Mines MATLAB portal. The first time you access the portal, your identity will be confirmed through a Mines login screen. Use your Mines username (not your email) and Multipass on this screen. Then you will be directed to the Mathworks portal where you will need to create an account on their system. Do not use your Mines Multipass here. Once all this is done, you will be able to login to obtain downloads, tutorials and support. Software is only available through the Mines MATLAB Portal. It is not available from the main Mathworks web site.
If you need to renew your Matlab license for a personally owned device, follow these instructions.
For installation on a school owned computer, please submit a Mines Help Center request so as not to tie up your personal license.
Documentation: Available on the Mines MATLAB portal.
In case of difficulties running the software in a Mines IT managed lab: Contact IT via the Mines Help Center. We want the program to be properly installed, licensed and functioning. If you have questions about the use of the program, please contact your instructor, TA or lab manager.
