Troubleshoot Repeated Re-Registration Issues When Connecting to Wi-Fi

2.0 Purpose 

The purpose of this knowledge base article is to guide users through the process of disabling the Private Address feature on their device in order to successfully connect to "Mines" or "Mines-Legacy" networks. This article includes instructions for iOS, macOS, Android, and Windows operating systems.


 

3.0 Instructions

iOS or iPadOS

  1. Go to the Settings app and then tap Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the blue information bubble next to "Mines-Legacy" network.
  3. Toggle the Private Address setting to the off position.

MacOS

  1. Go to System Settings and then select Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the 3 dot information bubble next to "Mines-Legacy" network and click on Network Settings.​​​​

  1. Toggle the Private Wi-Fi address setting off.

Android

  1. Access your wireless settings.
  2. Tap the information bubble next to "Mines-Legacy" network.

  1. In the Advanced Settings section, find Privacy then change the setting to Use device MAC address.

Windows

  1. Click on the network icon in your task bar, then click on the wireless settings button.

  1. Tap the blue information bubble next to "Mines-Legacy" network.

  1. Click on Advanced Network Settings  or Properties.
  2. Change the  Random Hardware Address  setting to Off.


You may need to re-register your device with IT again, but that should solve the problem.
