Managing Team Time for Managers

OVERVIEW

This job aid explains how you approve timesheets in Workday for your team. You also have the ability to enter time on behalf of a worker that reports to you; for example, in the case of an unexpected absence and timesheets need to be submitted. 

REVIEW AND APPROVE TIME ENTRY

  1.     Click the Workday Inbox.
  2.     Click the Time Entry task.
  3.     Locate the Entries to Approve section.
  4.     Review the Date, Type, Quantity and Comments.
  5.     Select one of the following actions:
  6.     Approve: approves the worker’s time
    •     Send Back: sends back to the worker to re-enter.  Enter a Reason/Comment for sending back and Submit. Once the worker corrects the time, they will submit again, and you receive a new inbox task to review and approve.
    •     Deny: terminates the entire business process. Enter a Reason for denying and Submit.
    •     Close: Closes the Inbox view and saves the tasks for later. The task stays in your Inbox until you select a different action. 

TAKE ACTION ON BEHALF OF AN EMPLOYEE

You have the ability to access and modify time for one of your direct reports in Workday.

  1.     Select the My Team’s Time application.
        Note: You can also start from the Worker’s profile.  
  2.     Hover over the employee’s name and click the Related Actions icon.
  3.     Hover over Time and Leave and select Enter Time.
  4.     Click OK.
  5.     Use the arrows to navigate to a different week.
  6.     Use the Employee Enter Time user guide for instructions on how to enter time via the Calendar, Auto-fill from Prior Week or Quick Add. The Employee Enter Time     user guide will also assist you in Modifying or Deleting time.
  7.     Click Submit.
