Digital Signage Information at Mines

Summary

Learn about the use of large flat panel display monitors as information and way-finding mechanisms in this general use help article.

Body

The strategic use of flat-screen TV monitors to display messaging in public or open areas is known as “Digital Signage.” The campus digital signage options vary but have the following common functionality:

  • The Capacity to deploy banners, photos, graphics, information feeds, meeting room updates, campus news, university donor recognition, and other relevant content and data on large-format television screens
  • A diversity of template creation allows multiple content areas in one sign to present several different types of information and communication assets at once on each display
  • Ability to remotely change the content of each display on the network, either independently or as a group, from a wireless connection

The common Digital Signage platform supported by Mines IT is managed using a system called PingHD.

Need help with Digital Signage? We have two options to get you started:

1) if you have content that you'd like to have displayed on our shared campus playlist, you may submit that content using our Digital Signage Request Service.

  • Use this service to request something for Digital Signage (help, content, set up, permissions).
    • IT has partnered with Marketing and Communications for these requests.
  • If you have content that you'd like to submit only to the Ben Parker Student Center Digital Message board, you can visit their request page here (outside of Mines Help Center).

2) If you are having trouble with one of your digital signage displays, players, or the PingHD system, you can report a Digital Signage Issue.

If you aren't sure if you should choose a "Request" or "Issue," ask yourself: "is something broken or not working as expected?" If you answered NO to this question, use the Digital Signage Request Service. option. If you answered YES to that question, the Issue Service is the fastest way to get help!
