Overview
The Kaltura MediaSpace Go app allows you to record, upload, and manage video content from your iOS device. It connects directly to Mines MediaSpace so you can add videos to your account, publish to courses, and share content with others.
This guide explains how to install the app, sign in with your Mines credentials, record or upload videos, and manage your MediaSpace content from your phone.
Install the App
- Open the Apple App Store on your iOS device.
- Search for Kaltura MediaSpace Go.
- Select the app and tap the download arrow.
- Open the app once installation is complete.
Sign In to MediaSpace
- Launch KMS Go.
- In the "Site URL" field, https:// will already be entered. Add mediaspace.mines.edu.
- Tap Go.
- Select the profile icon at the top left.
- Tap login.
- Sign in with your Mines username and password.
- Approve the Okta authentication prompt.
Browse or Search for Videos
- Use the Explore button at the bottom of the screen to browse MediaSpace channels.
- Tap Search at the top to find content by title or keyword.
- Tap any video to view details, playback controls, and publishing options.
Upload a Photo or Video From Your Device
- From the home screen, tap the Upload button located at the bottom.
- Choose Gallery (iOS photos and video) or Cloud (iCloud files).
- Select media (photo or video).
- If choosing a video tap Choose.
- Enter a title, press Done.
- Choose your Publishing Status. (This can be changed once the image or video has been uploaded.)
- Private
- Unlisted
- Public (select a channel if required)
- Tap Upload
- Accept the terms & conditions.
- The media will upload.
The upload may take several minutes depending on file size and Wi-Fi strength. The video will appear in your My Media once processing is complete.
Record a New Photo or Video
- Tap the Upload button on the home screen.
- Select Camera.
- Allow the app to access your camera and microphone.
- Take a photo or record a video.
- When finished, tap Use Photo or Use Video.
- Trim your media (video) if needed and select Done when you've finished trimming.
- Enter the Title and select Done.
- Select the desired visibility. This can be changed once the media is uploaded.
- Tap Upload to send the video to MediaSpace.
- Accept the terms & conditions.
- The media will upload.
Edit Video Details
- Click on the profile icon in the upper left corner.
- Go to My Media.
- Tap the video you want to edit.
- Tap the ... icon, followed by Edit Entry.
- You can modify the title, description, tags, categories, and publishing status.
- Tap Update.
Note: Advanced editing features like trimming or clipping must be done on the desktop version of MediaSpace.
Publish to Canvas
You cannot publish directly into Canvas from the mobile app, but you can make a video available for use in Canvas.
- Upload your video using the steps above.
- Set the video’s publishing status to Unlisted or Published to the correct channel.
- Open Canvas on your device or computer.
- Use the Course Media or Embed tool in Canvas to insert the video where needed.
Troubleshooting
- I cannot sign in
- Check that the URL is exactly: https://mediaspace.mines.edu
- Make sure your device completes the Okta authentication.
- My upload is stuck
- Try switching to Wi-Fi, close other apps, or reduce the file size.
- The app cannot access my camera
- Go to Settings > Apps > KMS Go > Permissions and enable Photos and Videos, Music and Audio.
