Okta is a customizable, secure, and scalable Identity and Access Management (IAM) solution. Mines is utilizing the cloud-based service to reduce the development costs, maintenance costs, and security risks associated with the previous IAM solution. Okta provides a dashboard of all single sign-on (SSO) and multi-factor authentication (MFA) connected applications. For more information, visit https://www.okta.com/.

Identity and Access Management (IAM) is the framework of policies and technologies Mines utilizes to ensure users have the correct access to applications and tools. Included as part of the IAM framework is MFA and SSO.
MFA is an authentication method that grants users access to an application only after a combination of two or more credentials are verified (i.e., a combination of password, biometrics, token/pin). MFA makes it more difficult for hackers to impersonate you by requiring additional proof that you are logging in.
SSO lets you use a single username and password to log in once and access all your Mines connected apps; thus, alleviating the need to log into each app separately. As Mines continues to rollout Okta functionality, more applications will be added to the list of connected apps for SSO.
Okta supports Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Chrome.
It does. Download the Okta Mobile app from your app store for full mobile access to Okta. Okta Mobile allows you to access your applications from your mobile device with a PIN code, so you get the security of Single Sign-On from your mobile device.
To set up Okta Mobile, do the following:
- First, install the app. Apple mobile device users can download it from Apple’s iOS App Store. Android users can get it from the Google Play Store.
- After installation, enter the Mines’ Okta URL and your Okta username and password.
- Once authenticated, Okta Mobile will ask you to create a PIN. Confirm your PIN again, and you are done.
If you have a device that has TouchID or FaceID, you can use that to skip using the PIN the next time you are signing back in.
