OVERVIEW
This user guide will assist you in terminating an employee in Workday. If you are terminating a Contingent Worker, please refer to the End Contingent Worker Contract process.
Managers can initiate voluntary terminations. HR Partners can initiate voluntary and involuntary terminations.
TERMINATE EMPLOYEE
- Navigate to the relevant employee’s Profile.
- Click Actions, hover over Job Change, and select Terminate Employee.
- In the Reason section, select the Primary Reason.
- Select the check box, to save your changes.
- In the Notice Period section, click on the Pencil Icon, and populate the Notification Date.
- Select the check box, to save your changes.
- In the Details section, click on the Pencil Icon and populate the following:
- Termination Date: The employee’s final day of employment.
- Last Day of Work: The employee’s final day in the office
- Pay Through Date: The final day the employee will be paid.
- Eligible for Rehire: Select if you would like to rehire the employee.
- Close Position: Select check box, if the position should be closed and is no longer required (i.e. no backfill).
- Is this Position available for overlap: select the check box, if this position is available for overlap (i.e. another person simultaneously fills the position before the incumbent’s last day of work).
- Select the check box, to save your changes.
- Insert and additional information in the Comments field, if required.
- Using the drag and drop functionality, add the resignation letter or other pertinent documents in the Attachments box or click Select Files to choose a file from your computer.
- Click Submit.
Next: This task routes for approval to the relevant group(s). If the employee has open Inbox tasks or business processes, the Manage Business Processes for Worker task is triggered.
