Service Description

You can order any of the pre-configured recommended systems by ordering directly from Dell Premier.  If you have not ordered a Dell Premiere account created already, please submit submit a service request and User Support will help you establish an account to review these systems.  Accessories can also be purchased directly from this site. If you do not see a standard configuration that works for you, then please submit a request and let us work with you. We can then generate an eQuote that you will then be able to retrieve at the Dell Premier site and purchase directly. 

Microsoft Surface Tablets can also be purchased directly. If you would like assistance with making a decision then please request support. When you are ready to purchase you can get our best prices and order directly from CDW-G. When your tablet arrives then let us know and we will configure it for campus use.

Administrative Desktop – For typical administrative and desktop usage consisting in use of installed academic or administrative utilities, large scale spreadsheets, virtual machines, Matlab, Mathematica, Labview, etc. Is also suitable for light duty desktop computing consisting mostly of email, document preparation, Internet activity, etc.

High Performance Desktop – This is a scientific and engineering workstation for when high end CPU and RAM are required.

Laptop – A laptop computer that is versatile and will meet the needs of most users

All Dell quotes include 3 year ProSupport Plus with Next Business Day Onsite Service. 

Considering a Surface Tablet? We recommend for most Mines applications that you get

– i5 or i7 processor

– 8GB or more RAM

– 256GB or more SSD storage

Once the computer arrives we will install

  • Microsoft Windows 10 EDU
  • Microsoft Office Professional
  • Firefox and Chrome
  • Adobe Reader, Java and selected other utilities
  • Laptops will be encrypted using the built in Microsoft BitLocker

Service Levels

Once your new computer arrives, please open a Mines Help Center request and allow 3-5 working days for ITS to configure and setup the new system. Other software will be installed on request, licensing permitting.


If you believe that these configurations are not a good fit for your needs, then please consult with us for recommendations. Alternatives may experience delays in configuration and support.


Service Charges

All hardware and software is purchased by the requestor with their funding unless software is already available via established licensing.

Requesting the Service

Support can also be requested by visiting the Mines Service Center (MSC) or calling x2345 or 303-384-2345 during MSC staffed times. In this case, a Student Consultant will take your information.
