Since launching the new Self-Service Banner 9 (SSB9) Personal Information page in October of last year (which enabled the self-service capability for the Mines Community to add/update their PFN), Title IX and ITS have received inquiries regarding name usage in different systems and applications. Recently, we have also received feedback from faculty and advisors about the challenges with matching student names across various platforms.

The following are included in the scope of work for Phase II.
• Banner 9 Self-Service pages
• Active Directory and LDAP, which feed Teams, Zoom and federated systems
• Cognos reports
• Additional third-party systems, i.e., Maxient (Students of Concern database), Medicat (electronic record platform used by health, dental and counseling)

Background Information on PFN: Katie Schmalzel in the Office of Institutional Equity and Title IX served as the procedure contact and Preferred First Name (PFN) project sponsor. Katie led a committee of system owners in the spring of 2019 to develop procedures and identify high-impact systems to push PFNs to. Phase I was completed last month, which included the:
1) Launch of the SSB9 Personal Information page for self-input of PFNs instead of going through the Registrar’s Office or MAPS
2) Completion of the programming changes to 21 high-impact systems/applications to accommodate PFNs
