This will most likely be a SSB9 Page Builder (new page risk around this new work and maintenance needed for making this addition)

Hello, the Registrar and Bursar's offices would like to allow students who have missing SSNs to add it themselves to SSB. I looked through the Ellucian Community and reached out to the University of Maryland, who wrote custom code to allow this (attached). The scripts are for Banner 8 SSB but I'm hoping we can use this as a starting discussion point for rollout to SSB9.
Paul sent an email to the Data Governance Committee and we did not receive any objections from that group.

Description
This project aims to allow students to enter their social security numbers directly into Banner. SSNs are currently captured on the admissions application and FAFSA, however, there are approximately 200-300 eligible students (domestic or permanent residents) that are missing their SSN in Banner each year. In order to a complete a 1098-T for each student, the Bursar’s Office is required to have a student’s SSN or proof that the student will not provide it to the institution. Additionally, the SSN is used for COF (the College Opportunity Fund) and reporting to the Department of Education. Prior to the campus going remote due to Covid, the process required a student to bring their original SSN card and photo identification to the Registrar’s Office. During Covid, the Registrar team has modified their process by setting-up a Zoom call with each student to confirm copies of the SSN card and photo ID. By streamlining this process, students will have access to more easily provide their SSN to the university and minimize the need for manual intervention from the Bursar’s Office and Registrar Office.
