Please provide details regarding your request? Do you have a solution defined or do you need support identifying a solution?
I would like this project to allow Mines and Residence Life to provide real time and beneficial online housing software solution that is hosted on the company's cloud. We are currently using a Mines' hosted server which consumes a lot of ITS time and resources to do updates, fixes, interfaces with StarRez, etc. This project will allow for increased company support and faster version updates that will allow us to serve our residents with more care and attention.

What events or discussions preceded this request? Have there been previous efforts related to this request? Are you working with a vendor already? What are the benefits of this initiative?
-Quicker implementations as there is no need to wait for hardware setup.
-Full installation with no configuration required.
-Secure and reliable with automated backups, included redundancy, and secure infrastructure.
-All updated, patches, system updates, StarRez updates, and administration are included.
-Supports all major Single Sign On methods, including Shibboleth.
-Access the system from anywhere at anytime.
-Always on the latest version of StarRez.

What are the factors driving the desired completion date?
Are there campus activities, legal requirements, dependent efforts or goals that are driving a date?
Our updates are a couple versions behind, which is cumbersome and increases our dependence on per hour charges from the company. StarRez needs ITS's help anytime there needs to be any work done on the server and that takes up resources. A cloud transition will allow us to free up ITS and help our department with serving our residents.

Who does this project help? What happens if this project is not completed?
1/21/20: Per Max, We have had some progress since our phone call last semester! Going forward, our plan is to stay with Starrez and transition to their cloud as soon ITS can get this project in the que. Last semester, I had a project proposal created, that request ID was 389339.
I can connect you with our representative for Starrez so that those transition talks can start whenever we are ready to proceed. I wanted to give you an update and see what our next steps would be and help to facilitate this in any way that we need. jlt
12/19/19: Per PGC, Some question if continuing with StarRez after 05/2021? Moving to cloud has functional impacts - need to be evaluated by ResLife & ITS. Costs as well. Rebecca F will discuss with ResLife. jlt
12/12/19: Met with Mary and Max, Mary & Max are currently in a position where they are not definitely sure they want to go with StarRez and really need technical direction from ITS on what the best choice is here. The current StarRez contract ends April 2021. Per Mary, they cannot have any down time between that contract ending and a new solution in place as the software is critical. jlt
• Per Mary, early last month the StarRez vendor communicated to Mines that they had mistakenly charged them too low of a fee for the basic service and that more money was owed.
