MediaSpace: Assigning Media Permissions to MediaSpace Admins

Summary

To feature a video on the MediaSpace homepage Hero Banner, the video owner must grant co-publisher access to the "MediaSpace_Admins" group or a designated IT staff member. This guide provides step-by-step instructions for updating video permissions through the Collaboration settings in MediaSpace.

Body

Purpose

In some cases it will be necessary to assign shared permissions to a video. For example, only MediaSpace Administrators can add a featured video to the MediaSpace homepage carousel, in which case the video owner must grant co-publisher permissions to the "MediaSpace_Admins" group, or a named IT individual. This guide outlines the steps to update video permissions accordingly.

    • In the User or Group Name field, type in, “MediaSpace_Admins”.
    • Select the role Co-Publisher.
    • Click Add to confirm.
      Add a Collaborator window.
  5. Confirm the Update
    • Ensure "MediaSpace_Admins" appears under the Co-Publishers section.
    • Your video should now be accessible to MediaSpace Admins for featuring on the homepage Hero Banner.

Note: There are three different levels of sharing permissions:

  • Co-Viewer can only view media and doesn't have editing or publishing permissions.
  • Co-Publisher can publish videos to designated channels or galleries, but cannot delete or modify the original content.
  • Co-Editor can edit the media's details and metadata, trim media, replace media, edit captions, edit chapters, and edit slides. Co-editors can't delete media or add new co-editors and co-publishers. Co-editors can see the analytics page for the media they co-edit.
