Overview

This article provides step-by-step instructions for installing Microsoft Teams, adding a Mines Teams account, and transferring files from a department drive to a Teams folder. Readers will learn how to set up Teams on their laptop, navigate their department’s Teams folder, and upload files for organization and collaboration.

 

Installing Teams

If you do not have Microsoft Teams installed on your laptop, you'll need to do that first. If you do, you can skip to the next section.

  1. Download Microsoft Teams from this link.

  1. Follow the default prompts and click on continue to finish the install.

  1. Add your Mines account and you're done.
     

Adding Files to your Department Teams Folder

1. Open Microsoft Teams and click on the Teams icon on the left hand side bar.

2. Select the Team you want to move your network/department drive files to. In the menu on the top of the screen, click Files.  Click the Upload button. Shows teams file section to upload

  1. Click Files and select the files you'd like to upload to the Teams folder.Shows Mac files to upload from share

     
  2. Click the Open button to upload the file(s) you've selected. Below is a sample of files that has been uploaded to the Department Drive Test Folder that I have created:Shows the files successfully uploaded

     
  3. To create a new folder within your Team, you can click the New button and select folderShows TEams file section
