Overview

Use this article to resolve HIP check issues on your Windows computer.
 

Windows Firewall

Windows Defender Firewall is a built-in firewall. To check to see if your Windows firewall is turned on and is set to automatic follow these steps:

  1. In your Windows search window located on the task bar type on the lower part of your screen, type services, and click to open it. 
  2. A services window will appear, scroll down until you see, Windows Defender Firewall.

  1. If it's enabled, the Status will show as Running and the Startup Type will show as Automatic
  2. If it is not, double click the Windows Defender Firewall option and select Automatic and Start.


Anti-Malware

To check to see if your Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection is turned on and is set to automatic follow these steps.

  1. In your Windows search window located on the task bar type on the lower part of your screen, type services, and click to open it.
  2. A services window will appear, scroll down until you see Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection.

  1. If it's enabled, the Status will show as Running and the Startup Type will show as Automatic
  2. If it is not, double click the Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection option and select Automatic and Start.


Enable Auto Updates

Enable automatic updates to keep your computer secure. To check to see if your automatic updates is set to automatic follow these steps.

  1. In your Windows search window located on the task bar on the lower part of your screen, type services and click to open it.

  2. A services window will appear. Scroll down until you see Windows Update.

  1. Double click Windows Update, and another window will appear. 
  2. Under the General tab, look down to the Startup Type selection. Verify that it is set to Automatic. If it isn't, set it to Automatic and click ok.

  1. You can now close the services window.


To Manually Run Updates

  1. In the Windows search window located on the task bar on the lower part of your screen, type Windows Updates.
  2. Click on Check for Updates.
  3. From here you can choose and install updates.
