Migrating Home Drive (Z:) to OneDrive [Windows Version]

Note: As we transition to OneDrive, the below guide will help you move your files and folders to OneDrive. Ensure you are on a Mines network and or on VPN.

Shows Home Drive (Z Drive) Mapped

1. Navigate to Windows Explorer and find the drive mapped to your home drive. The drive letter will more than likely be Z:. If the drive is not mapped, please follow step 2-3. If it is, please proceed to step 4.

2. Navigate to file explorer. Click on “This PC”àclick the ellipsesàSelect Map network drive.

3. The drive letter can be whatever is pre-populated. The folder will be the home drive location. \\home.mines.edu\home\username. Please replace user name in the file path with your user name.

4. At this point, bring up two windows. One window with your Home drive and the other with your OneDrive. You can start selecting files and folders and either copying or dragging and dropping the items into the OneDrive folder.

5. After the files/folders have been moved, your OneDrive will backup these files to the cloud. You can access the files on any device where you have your OneDrive setup as well as on the web.
