This process describes the steps to renew your Matlab license for a personally owned computer. If you are renewing your personal Matlab license, you need to do this annually. Your Matlab application will warn you when you are a couple of weeks from needing the renewal. This process is NOT for Mines owned computers, which uses a concurrent network license hosted on a campus server.
- Navigate to: https://www.mathworks.com/academia/tah-portal/colorado-school-of-mines-40579029.html
- Click 'Sign in to get started'.
- You should get a Mines single-sign-on authentication page. Provide your Mines credentials.
- Click the 'Sign In' button on the Mathworks login page.
- Sign in with your Mathworks account. Your account should look like your Mines email address: username@mines.edu
- After you sign in, you should be dropped in the 'Downloads' page.
- At the top right of the page, click your 'account profile button' and click 'My Account'.
- Click the View additional Licenses or Trials link.
- Click the row with '40579029 MATLAB (Individual) Total Headcount Academic'.
- Click the 'Install and Activate' tab in the License Center.
- Click the 'Activate a Computer' button.
- You will need to provide some info from your computer to uniquely identify it. Click the How do I find my computer's host id? link just below the 'Host ID' box for instructions how to obtain the Host ID.
- Pick the Release you are renewing.
- Pick the Operating System you are using.
- Type the Host ID from the instructions in the How do I find my computer's host id? link.
- Type your computer login name.
- Type a descriptive name for the activation. Something like "username Matlab 2019a License Renewal - 7/22/2020".
- Click Continue.
- You can click the 'Email License File' button to send the the license renewal file to yourself.
- You should also copy the 'File Installation Key' and store in a safe place for use later if you need to reinstall on the same system.
- Click Done.
- You can now renew your Matlab installation with the new license file.
